Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and committed Responsible Individual (RI) to provide effective oversight and governance of our Children’s Residential Home. The successful candidate will ensure the service operates in full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted requirements, while supporting the Registered Manager to deliver outstanding care and positive outcomes for children and young people.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with a strong background in children’s residential care and previous experience as a Responsible Individual.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight of the Children’s Residential Home, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and Ofsted requirements.
- Support and supervise the Registered Manager to ensure the effective day-to-day running of the home.
- Monitor the quality of care provided and promote continuous improvement.
- Ensure the home operates in accordance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
- Promote a culture of safeguarding, accountability, and high-quality care.
- Conduct regular quality assurance audits and monitor compliance.
- Support the Registered Manager in preparing for and responding to Ofsted inspections.
- Liaise with Ofsted, Local Authorities, and other external professionals as required.
- Ensure policies, procedures, and governance arrangements are implemented effectively.
- Monitor children’s outcomes and ensure their welfare remains the highest priority.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Responsible Individual (RI) for an Ofsted-registered Children’s Residential Home is essential.
- Must have previously been accepted by Ofsted as a Responsible Individual.
- Extensive knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and safeguarding legislation.
- Strong leadership, governance, and quality assurance experience.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to support and challenge Registered Managers to achieve the highest standards of care.
- Relevant Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) is desirable.
