Job Title: Experienced Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home

Salary: £29,000 – £34,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: Includes evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins (enhanced rates paid where applicable)

We are a well-established and highly regarded children’s residential care provider committed to offering a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for young people aged 8–18. Our Burton-On-Trent based home provides trauma-informed care for children with emotional and behavioural needs, helping them build brighter futures through consistency, compassion, and structure.
The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Support Worker to join our team in supporting children and young people who may have experienced trauma, neglect, or adverse childhood experiences. You’ll play a vital role in helping them feel safe, valued, and empowered to achieve positive outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support
- Build trusting relationships and act as a positive role model
- Support children with daily routines, activities, and life skills
- Maintain accurate records and reports in line with regulatory standards
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including social workers, therapists, and education providers
- Manage challenging behaviours with empathy and consistency
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the home and care plans
- Participate in shift patterns including sleep-ins and weekends
Requirements:
- Minimum 12 months’ experience working in a children’s residential setting
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete within 12 months)
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Resilience, emotional intelligence, and a genuine passion for making a difference
- Ability to work flexibly across shifts, including sleep-ins (additional payment provided)
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
