Mobile Tyre Fitter Job Description
Overview
We are looking for a reliable and skilled Mobile HGV / Commercial Tyre Technician to join our team, providing roadside and on-site tyre fitting services for HGVs, trucks, buses, and commercial vehicles. The role involves responding to breakdowns, carrying out tyre repairs and replacements, and ensuring vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
This is a mobile position where you will work independently from a fully equipped service van, covering local and surrounding areas.
Duties
- Attend roadside breakdowns and emergency call-outs in a timely and professional manner
- Inspect tyre condition, tread wear, and damage on HGVs, trucks, buses, and fleet vehicles
- Remove, repair, and replace tyres safely and efficiently
- Carry out puncture repairs, wheel balancing, and inflation checks
- Diagnose tyre-related issues and recommend suitable solutions to customers
- Provide mobile on-site tyre services for fleet customers and commercial clients
- Complete job sheets, service reports, and maintain accurate records of all work carried out
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety standards
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in good working order
- Deliver excellent customer service and represent the business professionally
- Perform scheduled tyre checks and maintenance for fleet clients
- Respond to urgent situations such as blowouts or roadside breakdowns
- Work in various environments including motorways, depots, and customer sites
- Assist with stock control and tyre inventory
- Provide advice to customers on tyre safety, cost-effective options, and replacements
Skills
- Previous experience as a tyre fitter or commercial tyre technician (HGV preferred)
- Strong knowledge of tyre fitting, repair, and maintenance techniques
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Good problem-solving skills, especially during roadside breakdowns
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Physically fit and capable of handling heavy equipment
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including call-outs and weekends
