Welding & Quality Inspector | £40,000 per annum | Batley, West Yorkshire | 40 hours per week | Permanent
Stoa Recruitment are looking for a qualified Welding & Quality Inspector on behalf of our client — an established steel fabrication business working to BS EN 1090 on architectural and structural steelwork for clients across the UK.
The Role
You'll own the quality and integrity of everything that comes out of the workshop. Inspecting welds and fabricated components, verifying compliance with client specs and BS EN 1090, managing inspection documentation, and driving a positive quality culture across the team.
This is a role for a qualified inspector who takes the standard personally — someone who understands that their sign-off is the last line of defence before a product reaches the client.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying out thorough visual and dimensional inspections of welds and fabricated components
- Preparing and controlling welding and manufacturing documentation, specifications, and quality records
- Overseeing welder testing, qualifications, and the implementation of inspection and test plans
- Monitoring interpass temperatures, heat input, and dimensional accuracy
- Identifying and recording non-conformities, managing rectifications and retesting
- Coordinating NDT internally and managing measuring equipment control (LTQRs)
- Completing QC documentation — ITPs, inspection check sheets, NCRs — and managing lifetime quality records on regulated projects
- Acting as a subject matter expert in supply chain audits and supporting continuous improvement
What We Need From You
- CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 / PCN Level 2 Welding Inspector — essential
- PCN Level 2 Visual Testing and Magnetic Particle Inspection
- Strong understanding of welding techniques, materials, coating, and industry standards
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Experience working to BS EN 1090
- IT proficient (Microsoft Word & Excel)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- For galvanising and powder coating inspection, any of the following are advantageous: BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector (Basic or Level 1/2), ICorr Level 1 Coating Inspector, powder coating inspection training, or hot-dip galvanising awareness training
