At YOFI, the restaurant at Brighton & Hove Jewish Community (BNJC), we are looking for a talented and motivated Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team and help deliver high-quality, seasonal food in a unique community setting over 40 hours per week.

About the Role
As a Chef de Partie, you will take ownership of your section from preparation through to service, ensuring dishes leave the kitchen consistently well-executed and beautifully presented.
You will work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to maintain high standards across the kitchen, while also supporting junior team members and contributing ideas to menu development.
This is a role for someone who enjoys the pace and discipline of a professional kitchen, but also values teamwork and learning.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Running Your Section
- Managing mise en place and service for your section
- Preparing and cooking dishes to recipe and presentation standards
- Maintaining consistency, quality and timing during service
Supporting the Kitchen Team
- Mentoring and supporting junior chefs
- Delegating tasks and helping develop team skills
- Working collaboratively with the wider kitchen team
Menu Development
- Supporting seasonal menu ideas with the Head Chef
- Working within kosher dietary requirements
- Contributing creative ideas for dishes and specials
Kitchen Standards
- Maintaining high food hygiene and safety standards (HACCP)
- Managing stock control, portioning and waste reduction
- Ensuring equipment is used safely and maintained properly
Service Excellence
- Maintaining calm and professionalism during busy services
- Supporting smooth coordination between sections
- Delivering consistently high standards of food presentation and quality
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Culinary qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) or strong professional kitchen experience
- 2–3 years’ experience in a UK professional kitchen
- Experience working as a Chef de Partie or strong Senior Commis ready to step up
- Strong food hygiene and safety knowledge (HACCP, COSHH)
- Excellent knife skills and core cooking techniques
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Positive team player with good communication skills
Desirable:
- Interest in menu development and creative cooking
- Experience in kosher kitchens (not essential – training can be provided)
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and busy service periods
