Job description
Instalaw Solicitors is seeking an experienced Consultant Solicitor to assist with the delivery and further development of civil actions against public authorities, with a particular focus on claims involving prisons, police forces, probation services, Parole Board decision making and other state agencies.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor or experienced fee earner with a strong background in public authority litigation who wishes to move from private practice into a flexible consultancy role.
Key features of the role include:
- An existing caseload of both litigated and pre action matters which the successful candidate could take conduct of immediately
- No requirement for the successful candidate to bring an existing caseload with them
- A suitable opportunity for a fee earner with experience in private practice who wishes to move into a consultancy role
- A flexible consultancy arrangement within a specialist and growing practice
- The opportunity to work on claims involving prisons, police forces, probation services, Parole Board decision making and other public bodies
Desirable experience would include some of the following case experience:
- Unlawful detention claims
- Assault claims
- Negligence claims
- Actions against the Police
- Claims under the Human Rights Act 1998
- Equality Act 2010 claims
- Parole delay claims
- Judicial Review
This role provides a rare opportunity to take conduct of an existing pipeline of public authority claims without needing to bring an existing book of work. It would particularly suit a confident and experienced solicitor or fee earner who is looking for the flexibility of consultancy work while continuing to practise in a specialist area of civil litigation.
