About the Role
We are looking for a Shunter / Forklift Driver to join our friendly and hardworking team at our Telford site. This is a practical, hands‑on role that plays an important part in supporting our yard, transport, and abattoir operations, helping to keep everything running safely and smoothly across site.
As well as shunting duties, the role involves forklift operation, including the movement, weighing, tipping, and day to day management of dolavs. You’ll also support general yard activities, ensuring high standards of hygiene, safety, and efficiency are maintained at all times.
This role is based within a food manufacturing environment, so attention to detail and a commitment to safe working practices are essential.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Safely moving trailers between loading bays, parking areas, and designated zones
- Loading and unloading deliveries using a forklift
- Managing dolavs to support production flow and prevent delays
- Keeping yard traffic flowing safely and efficiently
- Cleaning loading bays, trailers, and wash areas as part of routine duties
- Supporting general yard maintenance, including litter picking
- Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects
- Following strict food safety, hygiene, and contamination‑control procedures
- Maintaining accurate records of trailer and yard movements
- Working closely with transport, warehouse, and abattoir teams
- Always working in line with health & safety and PPE requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a Shunter Driver and/or Forklift Operative (preferred)
- A valid driving licence (Class 1 or recognised shunter licence essential)
- Good awareness of yard safety and vehicle operations
- Comfortable working in a food production / abattoir‑linked environment
- Reliable, safety‑conscious, and able to work at pace
- A positive team player with good communication skills
