About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Plant Manager to join our outstanding Major Projects team to work at our Old Oak Common development in London – join us and be part of the largest construction project in the UK.
HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.
Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide highspeed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.
What you'll be doing
Undertake LOLER and PUWER inspections and generate the appropriate
documentation on complex equipment that are managed on the project
- Inspect plant to ensure it is in line with Industry Standards as well as LOLER and
PUWER requirements
- Develop and maintain a robust monitoring and documentation system that records the
condition of the plant and tools. This may include overseeing In-House equipment and
material testing and producing reports
- Monitor equipment to confirm and enable that they are in good working order
- Manage and monitor all plant to confirm compliance to all schedules for machines and
facilities and assist in installation of all equipment (where required)
- Report any issues in accordance with the processes and procedures
- Deliver training to refresh and upskill the workforce
Who we're looking for
SMSTS- CSCS
- NVQ Level 3 or higher
- CSWIP Plant Inspection (Level 3)
- NPROS N039 Plant Inspector
Strong leadership and managerial attributes
- Exceptional organisation and time-management skills
- Familiar with operating plant equipment from both safety and working efficiency
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external internal and external stake
holders in verbal and written form
- Knowledge and working experience around PUWER and LOLER regulations
- To hold a full UK driving licence
- Flexible approach to working hours and activities
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practice relating to Loading, Offloading and Securing of Vehicle Load
