Lamb Building is a leading common law set with barristers in London and Brighton and a strong reputation across Criminal, Family and Civil law. The successful candidate will be based in London but may be expected to work in Brighton on occasion.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in barristers’ clerking and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced Chambers environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the clerking team and members of Chambers, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the office while developing a practical understanding of court procedures, diary management and solicitor relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative and clerking support to the clerks’ room
- Take delivery of all incoming post and distribute accordingly
- Monitor and manage incoming emails to Chambers’ main clerks inbox
- Reconcile hearing dates, deadlines and listed matters against barristers’ diaries
- Set up remote conferences and circulate joining details to all attendees
- Chase outstanding papers from solicitors ahead of hearings and conferences
- Assist with maintaining Chambers’ seminar mailing lists and sending guest invitations
- Coordinate conference refreshments and seminar catering where required
- Deliver papers to court when necessary
- Assist with maintaining and updating Chambers’ website content
- Maintain office supplies, stationery and grocery orders
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade 5 or above), including Mathematics and English
- A strong interest in pursuing a career in barristers’ clerking
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- A professional and approachable manner, with a high degree of reliability
- Good IT skills and confidence using email, calendars and office systems
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- The ability to work well under pressure and remain calm in a busy environment
Pay: £24,420.00 per year
