A specialist SEND school in North Liverpool is looking to appoint a motivated and caring SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with additional needs, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.
The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and is seeking someone who can provide stability & encouragement throughout the school day. The successful candidate will play an important role in helping pupils build confidence, regulate emotions, and engage positively in learning.
The Role
- Provide tailored support to pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small group settings
- Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and emotional regulation
- Use positive behaviour strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging situations
- Work closely with as a team with other teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe learning environment
- Encourage pupil participation and social development
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working within a SEND, SEMH, or alternative provision setting is desirable
- Confident managing challenging behaviour
- A background in sports coaching or similar transferable experience
- Resilient & empathetic to supporting vulnerable young people
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A dedicated and expert Account Manager
