We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with clients, dealing with a varied workload and becoming part of a supportive and close-knit practice.
The Role
You’ll work with a wide range of clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, preparing accounts and tax returns while providing practical advice and support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Preparing Self Assessment tax returns
- Preparing Corporation Tax returns and computations
- Advising clients on bookkeeping, accounting and tax matters
- Liaising directly with clients and HMRC by telephone, email and in person
- Reviewing accounting records and ensuring compliance with current legislation
- Supporting and supervising a bookkeeper as the team grows
- Managing your workload to ensure deadlines are consistently met
About You
We’re looking for someone who has:
- AAT qualified (preferred) or qualified by experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice
- Strong experience preparing year-end accounts, VAT returns, Self Assessment and Corporation Tax returns
- Excellent working knowledge of Xero and Sage
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small, friendly team
Experience using Digita software would be advantageous but is not essential.
Please note: This role requires recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice. Unfortunately, applications from candidates with industry-only accounting experience will not be considered.
Pay: £25,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
