The Role
Most people walk past fire doors without a second glance.
They don’t see the gap at the bottom that would let smoke through in minutes, or the intumescent seal that’s been painted over twice. You do. That’s what makes a great surveyor - and it’s exactly who we’re looking for.
As a Fire Door Surveyor, you’ll be out on site every day carrying out detailed fire door inspections across a range of buildings including residential, commercial, and public sector properties. You’ll assess fire door compliance, identify defects, and produce clear, actionable reports that help clients improve safety and meet regulatory standards.
You’ll work closely with clients on site, clearly explaining findings, while collaborating with internal teams to support project delivery and remediation works.
Day to day, you’ll be:
- Conducting fire door inspections in line with FDIS standards
- Assessing fire doors for compliance, condition, and certification
- Identifying defects including gaps, seals, ironmongery, and installation issues
- Producing clear and accurate defect reports with remedial recommendations
- Engaging with clients on site to explain findings in a practical, honest way
- Supporting Project Managers and Operations teams with technical input
