What will the job entail?
The role involves working during the day Monday to Friday and a requirement to work evenings and weekends, we will support you to have a home / work life balance.
You will support people to have their voice heard and support them to develop skills towards their longer-term future.
You will be able to plan and implement imaginative activities with the person that will also help them to develop skills.
You will be able to understand that people communicate their thoughts and feelings using behaviours of concern and will have a ‘can do’ approach to teach the person to communicate in a different way, team working is key.
You will work as part of a team out of a set venue, local community or family homes. Motivating and supporting the person to take part in a wide range of special interests and activities that support their health and wellbeing such as trampolining, visiting the beach /park / woodland, walking, swimming, baking / cooking, playing games, singing and dancing, crafts and mindfulness to name a few.
Other duties may include assisting people to attend to their own personal care needs include manual handling.
As a support worker you would need to demonstrate an ability to be creative and open minded as you assist people towards achieving their goals, whilst also helping the team to provide a safe, caring and learning experience for people with disabilities so that they have the best quality of life possible.
Resilience is a must in our care sector. We all have our good and bad days and the ability to remain calm and supportive is a must have quality that you will need to demonstrate to work with us
You will be able to attend specialist training to give you all of the skills that will help you to give the individuals the best opportunities to fulfil their lives.
You will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure check by the Disclosure & Barring Service and appointment will be subject to 2 satisfactory references.
The team delivers services 365 days of the year during the day, evening and weekend. We are therefore looking for individuals who have a flexible approach to the working hours to meet the demands of the service.
