Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Cook / Chef to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for young children in our nursery setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, a strong understanding of food safety standards, and experience working in a kitchen environment. Duties
- Prepare and cook healthy meals suitable for children under 5, ensuring nutritional value and variety
- Plan menus in accordance with dietary requirements and nursery guidelines
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times
- Manage food stock levels, reduce wastage, order supplies as needed, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
- Follow all health and safety regulations related to food handling and preparation
- Collaborate with nursery staff to accommodate special dietary needs or allergies
- Keep detailed records of food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and safety checks
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a childcare or nursery environment
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, hygiene practices and allergens
- Experience with meal preparation for young children or similar age groups
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage stock levels effectively
- A genuine passion for preparing healthy meals for children is essential
