Assistant Manager – Pan's Café, Dumfries
Salary: £28,000–£32,000 DOE + tips
Pan's Café is looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on Assistant Manager to help lead our growing independent café, restaurant and events venue.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about hospitality and enjoys creating memorable experiences for guests. Working closely with the owner, you will help oversee daily operations, support and develop the team, and ensure every customer receives a warm welcome and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the café and evening service
- Leading shifts and ensuring smooth service from open to close
- Supervising, motivating and developing team members
- Delivering outstanding customer service and handling guest feedback professionally
- Assisting with staff training and onboarding
- Managing bookings, customer enquiries and reservations
- Supporting stock ordering, stock control and supplier relationships
- Assisting with rota planning and labour management
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and food safety
- Supporting the delivery of events, functions and special evenings
- Ensuring compliance with licensing, food hygiene and health & safety requirements
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in a supervisory, duty manager or assistant manager role within hospitality
- Leads by example and enjoys working on the floor alongside the team
- Has excellent communication and people skills
- Remains calm and organised in a busy service environment
- Takes pride in delivering exceptional guest experiences
- Is proactive, reliable and willing to take ownership
- Has experience with cash handling, opening and closing procedures, and stock management
- Holds a personal licence (desirable but not essential)
