Contracts Manager Position
South Wales Sports Grounds are currently recruiting for an experienced Contracts
Manager to join our team on a permanent basis, with an immediate start.
This is a great opportunity for a skilled and knowledgeable Contracts Manager looking to join a well-established South Wales based Company, working on a range of long-term projects. As a Contracts Manager within the team, you’ll have a critical role to play in turning our customers visions and ideas into reality, ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget, and that the quality is intrinsic at every stage. The role will focus between pre-contract, contract delivery and post-contract activities across all ongoing and any new projects.
Your role as a Contracts Manager;
- You must have considerable experience as a Contracts Manager, Operations Manager or Senior Site Manager within the construction industry and be comfortable managing multiple projects and multi-level clients.
- Your role will require you to work across the South Wales Region and potentially surrounding Regions as required.
- Travel on a daily basis to sites to liaise with customers, employees, contractors and end-user clients as necessary.
- Develop and maintain close relationships with all appropriate internal and external stakeholders, including customers, sub-contractors, and supply chain.
- Manage contract delivery and develop strong customer relationships at a high level.
- To be able to communicate effectively and confidently with clients, residents, and colleagues at all levels.
- Ensure all programmes, plans, method statements and risk assessments are robust, up to date, understood and implemented.
- Produce Construction Phase Plans, in line with current legislation and regulations.
- Effectively manage a team of direct labour and subcontractors. You will need to support and guide the team to ensure all projects are brought in on-time and to cost.
- Manage ongoing and new projects; providing and ensuring a plan of works are being followed to ensure projects are delivered on time, in budget and to KPI’s.
- Be aware of and ensure contract terms are understood and adhered to.
- Be able to identify and quote additional works effectively.
- Manage budgets and financial status with the commercial team.
- Be familiar with working to SOR’s and compiling works package costs.
- Compliance with company standards, policies, procedures, ISO accreditations and legislative requirements.
- Accountable for delivery and quality in line with customer and company expectations.
The Candidate
· Significant management experience in the construction industry
· Previous experience of successfully carrying out a similar role to a high quality
· General knowledge of contracts (minimum)
· General knowledge of IT (MS Office, MS project)
· Fully compliant with Engineering drawings
· Ability to set-out site using engineering drawings
· Full use of dual grade lasers
· Key communication skills necessary to maintain client relationships
· Key skills in project planning and time management and effective communication to manage site-based project personnel
· Experience in running and recording effective meetings with a range of key stakeholders, internal and external
· Excellent time management and organisational skills
· The ability to communicate with and delegate to other members of the team at site and at project meetings
· A willingness to mentor other members of the construction management team
· The ability to be a key liaison point with client and design team before construction begins
Qualifications/Experience
Confident leadership, especially from a Health & Safety perspective. You will be expected to work to strict standards. Highly desirable to have worked in a Contracts Manager previous role. You will need the appropriate qualifications, certifications, experience, and competency for the role. It is expected that you will come from a civils, infrastructure, groundworks, or possibly more general construction background. Ideally, you will have a valid Black Managers Card along with BTEC or NVQ4 in Site Management, or HND or degree or equivalent.

A good understanding of all aspects of Groundworks is required. Exceptional organisation, supervisory and motivational skills to enable you to drive and inspire your team to the highest standards. A methodical and analytical thought process with strong communication skills enabling you to report clearly on production process and quality.
