About the Service User
Our client is a 17-year-old young lady, and her medical condition is Mabry Syndrome, Dystonia and Epilepsy. She is a full time wheelchair user that requires full support. Our client is on a blended diet and has a PEG for medication and water top ups. Our client does require support with Oral Suction and Nebulisers but this is usually when feeling unwell. Shadow shifts and additional training will be given to the right candidate.
But this doesn’t stop our client! At the weekends our client loves pamper sessions, nail painting, having cheeky lie ins, sensory pamper sessions, and having a cuddle watching musicals or Disney films. Our client is very sociable and loves to be out and about. She loves a good girlie day out whether this is on a shopping trip, going to the cinema or bowling, or a cheeky trip to a dessert shop, and even baking at times, these are her favourite things to do. Staff members would be required to drive our service users’ WAV van to enable these activities and encourage the service user’s independence.
We are looking for a female staff member that is caring, enthusiastic, reliable and committed. Having a bubbly and lively personality would be ideal as our service user loves to listen to gossip, although our service user is unable to verbally communicate, she loves the staff members to sing along to her music and have a dance as this make her giggle, client loves story time too. However, during the week after school she is usually tired so these shifts would be calmer and involve supporting with bathing, meal prep and medication administration.
Mum will not be present at times due to work, so staff need to be confident in their care and in assessing the service user’s needs. Our client is nonverbal, but the more staff get to know her the more they will understand what she is trying to say in her own way.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow a personalised care plan
- Provide specialist or routine care tasks PEG management, Oral Suction, Nebuliser
- Assist with personal care
- Support with mobility
- Help with meal preparation
- Offer companionship and reassurance
- Communicate with the office team
- Keep care records up to date
- Work closely with family members to maintain consistency
What We Are Looking For
- Experience with mobility support
- Training in medication assistance
- Moving and handling knowledge
- Confidence with equipment used in the home
- Comfortable working one-to-one
- Someone who enjoys pampering sessions, singing, shopping, cinema, bowling, baking
- Someone who can bring reassurance and consistency
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Must be 18 or over
