We are excited to recruit a full time Specialist Doctor in Ophthalmology to provide excellent care to our patients. This would be an excellent opportunity for Higher Trainees who have completed their training or an established speciality doctor seeking a career change.
We expect the right candidate to be a role model and be to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team through effective communication and influencing skills. The postholder is expected to work autonomously and provide training for junior colleagues.
Our team boasts of highly experienced specialists in Medical Retina, Cornea, Paediatrics, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Glaucoma and Oculoplastics. We have a close working relationship with other specialties within the Trust that further support the service. We are supported by efficient, innovative and well led Nursing, Orthoptic and Optometrist teams. Services are delivered across all West Herts sites including Watford General and St Albans City Hospitals.
To provide high-quality clinical care to our patients and ensure that the departmental vision is maintained in line with National and Local policy. This role requires a highly skilled and experienced ophthalmic doctor, who will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and under the care of consultant ophthalmologists. To work with the Consultants to look at innovative ways to improve the service we provide for our patients.
As well as being a highly skilled and experienced ophthalmic doctor, who will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and under the care of consultant ophthalmologists within the department, the successful candidate will have a broad experience in the management of ophthalmology outpatients and will engage in all aspects of ophthalmology patient pathways, including in programmed Eye Casualty sessions.
