Maintenance Engineer

Role Summary
Reporting to the Production Director, the Maintenance Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our production machinery.
You will support both planned and reactive maintenance activities, help prioritise engineering tasks based on production requirements, and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on, varied role offering exposure to specialist machinery within a niche manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on a wide range of production equipment
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical faults
- Use machine tools including milling machines, lathes, and general machining equipment as required
- Support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities and continuous improvement projects
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, records, and logs
- Assist with spare parts ordering and stock control, liaising with suppliers as needed
- Support the training and development of new employees and apprentices
- Identify recurring issues and suggest long-term engineering solutions
- Work in compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and internal procedures
Skills & Experience
- Mechanical Engineering qualification (or equivalent experience)
- GCSEs in English and Maths (grades A–C or equivalent)
- Proven experience working with industrial or production machinery
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Ideally experienced with machining, milling, lathes, and precision measurement tools
- Good understanding of electrical safety
- Effective communication and administrative skills, including accurate parts ordering
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and prioritise effectively
- A proactive, organised, and problem-solving mindset
- Flexibility to undertake overtime when required

Additional Information
- Salary will be based on experience and suitability for the role
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm (40 hours per week)

- Due to our location, candidates will need their own transport.
