Job Title: Preschool & Afterschool Club Practitioner
Pay: £12.71 - £14.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
Hours: We are ideally looking for someone to work Monday to Thursday during term time 8.30am - 3.30pm in Preschool and 3.30 - 5.30pmif working in the afterschool club, however we are happy to discuss hours and working patterns with the right candidate. Additional hours may also be available on Fridays if required.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small, friendly and well established Preschool and Afterschool Club based at Nether Alderley Primary School.
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Level 3 practitioner to join our team, working with preschool children during the day before supporting both preschool and primary school aged children in our busy afterschool club. You will play an important role in helping children learn, develop and thrive in a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment.
As a small setting, every member of our team makes a meaningful contribution and has the opportunity to build strong relationships with children, families and colleagues.
We welcome applications from experienced practitioners as well as those looking to further develop their career in Early Years. Whilst this is primarily a practitioner role, we are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have experience taking on additional responsibilities or who may be looking to progress into a more senior role in the future. For the right individual, there is scope to contribute to the ongoing development of the setting and progress into a more senior position over time.
Responsibilities
- Working with preschool children during the day and supporting children attending our afterschool club.
- Planning and delivering engaging activities that support children's learning, development and wellbeing.
- Building strong relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
- Completing observations and contributing to children's learning journeys.
- Supporting children as they transition from preschool into primary school.
- Helping to create a warm, welcoming and stimulating environment where children can thrive.
- Contributing ideas and taking an active role in the ongoing development of the setting.
- Supporting the setting manager with day to day responsibilities and taking on additional responsibilities where appropriate.
Essential Requirements
- Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification.
- Experience working within a nursery, preschool or other Early Years setting.
- Confidence building positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child development.
- A proactive and reliable approach, with the ability to work as part of a small team.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
Desirable
- Experience acting as a key person and completing observations and assessments.
- Experience supporting colleagues or taking on additional responsibilities within a childcare setting.
- Experience supporting the day to day running of a room or setting.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- An interest in professional development and progression within Early Years education.
