The opportunity
SeavorChartered is looking for a qualified accountant with accountancy practice experience to join our established Limited Company Accounts team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA, ACCA or ICAS-qualified accountant who enjoys preparing high-quality accounts and tax work but would also like the opportunity to develop stronger, long-term relationships with clients.
The role can be shaped around the successful candidate’s experience and career ambitions. You may wish to concentrate primarily on accounts and tax work, or gradually build and manage your own portfolio of clients, becoming their principal point of contact and providing wider business and financial advice.
You will work with a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses across Cumbria and the surrounding area. Our clients operate in a broad range of sectors, meaning the work is interesting, varied and provides opportunities to become involved in more than routine compliance.
Key responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies in accordance with FRS 105 and FRS 102 Section 1A.
- Preparing corporation tax computations and Company Tax Returns.
- Reviewing company financial records and identifying matters requiring further investigation.
- Preparing or reviewing VAT Returns where required.
- Liaising directly with clients and responding to accounting and taxation queries.
- Explaining technical matters to clients clearly and practically.
- Ensuring accounts and tax work is completed accurately and within relevant deadlines.
- Assisting clients with the use of cloud accounting software and improving the quality of their financial records.
- Supporting and sharing knowledge with less experienced members of the team.
- Becoming involved in tax planning, management information, business advice and other client projects, depending on your experience and interests.
- Developing and managing a portfolio of clients where this forms part of your career ambitions.
Qualifications and experience
The successful candidate should have:
- An ACA, ACCA or ICAS qualification.
- Previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
- Experience preparing limited company statutory accounts and corporation tax computations.
- A good working knowledge of UK accounting standards and company taxation.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several assignments and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A professional, approachable manner and an interest in building strong client relationships.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good general IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
Experience using Xero, Dext and accounts production or taxation software would be beneficial, although training can be provided.
