Pre-Teacher Training Experience Program
Location: Salisbury, Hampshire
Hours: Monday to Friday, full-time (term time)
Pay: £500 – £510 per week
Job Description:
We are currently recruiting for an English Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Salisbury from September. This is a school we have worked closely with for a number of years and one that has a strong reputation for supporting graduates and aspiring teachers.
This role is ideally suited to a graduate with an English degree who is looking to gain valuable classroom experience, with the potential opportunity to progress into teacher training should the placement be successful.
You will work closely with the English department to support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping to improve literacy, engagement, and overall attainment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-class support during English lessons
- Work with small groups and individual students to reinforce learning
- Support students with reading, writing, and comprehension tasks
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities
- Help deliver targeted interventions and revision support
- Encourage student confidence and engagement within English
Ideal Candidate:
- English degree or strong academic background in English
- Passion for education and supporting young people
- Strong communication and literacy skills
- Positive, proactive, and adaptable attitude
- Experience working with young people desirable but not essential
- Interest in progressing into teaching or teacher training
