Howard Tenens are currently looking to recruit a Contract Executive on a permanent basis who has a passion for service and a strong customer focus. The role will oversee the Customer Account Plan ensuring the customer relationship enjoys mutual value to include, excellence in customer service, cost to serve, profitability, H&S, continuous improvement and wallet growth.
What you'll do:
- To ensure the business retain and grow existing customer accounts with commercials that enable the business to achieve and surpass its budgeted profit target.
- This will include engaging with site leadership teams, IT and Finance to review customer and supplier commercial arrangements, in addition to operational support and productivity analysis.
- Support the Contract Management Team deliver mutual value for the business’s top 25 Customers.
- Understand the customers strategy and how HTL support and deliver this.
- Understand how HTL create value and have a Continuous Improvement register in place for each customer.
- Understand the annual rate review and contract renewal processes to ensure HTL ensure the business is both profitable and retained on a long term basis.
- Lead negotiations, with customers to establish favourable terms and conditions that align with the company's strategic objectives. Negotiate pricing, service levels, performance metrics, and other contract terms to achieve cost savings and service enhancements.
- Oversee the entire contract lifecycle, from drafting and reviewing contracts to monitoring performance and ensuring compliance. Develop standardised contract templates and processes to streamline administration and minimise legal and financial risks.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with logistics contracts, such as service disruptions, regulatory compliance, liability issues, and financial penalties. Develop contingency plans and escalation procedures to address unforeseen circumstances and minimize business disruptions.
- Monitor contract compliance and performance metrics to ensure adherence to agreed-upon terms and service levels. Implement tracking mechanisms and reporting tools to assess vendor performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous optimisation.
What we're looking for:
- Ability to demonstrate Commercial Awareness with customers and suppliers.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CSCP, CPM, CSCP) is desirable.
- Proven experience 3 years in contract management, procurement, or logistics operations within the transportation, warehousing, or distribution industry or similar industry.
- Knowledge and experience of logistics and supply chain management concepts, including transportation modes, inventory management, and distribution networks with an intent to increase awareness through operational experience and/or secondments.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex contractual documents and financial data.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in contract management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Demonstrates a clear and supportive management style.
