Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Laundry Assistant/Domestic to join our team. This role involves providing essential laundry and domestic services within a care residential setting. The successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and efficiency. Previous experience is desirable, but a strong work ethic and attention to detail are essential qualities for this position.
Duties
- Collect, sort, and wash laundry items according to specified procedures
- Operate laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, and folding machines safely and efficiently
- Iron, fold, and organise clean linen and clothing for distribution or storage
- Maintain cleanliness of laundry areas and ensure equipment is in good working order
- Assist with general domestic tasks including cleaning, organising storage areas, and replenishing supplies
- Ensure all laundry is handled with care to prevent damage or loss of items
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times to maintain a safe working environment
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the care home
- Clean communal areas, lounges, corridors, bathrooms, and residents’ rooms
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces including handrails, door handles, and keypads
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, and polish floors and surfaces
- Safely use cleaning chemicals in line with COSHH regulations
- Empty waste bins and dispose of rubbish appropriately
- Replenish toiletries, paper products, and cleaning supplies
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times
- Report maintenance issues, damages, or hazards promptly
- Ensure all cleaning equipment is stored safely after use
- Support a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents
- Work independently and as part of a team to complete daily tasks
- Adhere to health and safety policies and PPE requirements
- Assist with deep cleaning duties as scheduled
- Maintain confidentiality and respect residents’ dignity at all times
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel or hospitality environment is preferred but not essential
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable with a positive attitude towards maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service
- Basic knowledge of laundry equipment operation is advantageous but training will be provided
