Our top priority is simple: ensuring our homes are safe, secure, and compliant. With a formal regulatory inspection fast approaching this financial year, we are investing in a competent, proactive team to lead our housing stock into full compliance with the consumer standards.
We are looking for a dedicated Compliance Duty Holder for Electric & Lifts to join our team. This is an essential role where your technical expertise directly protects our communities. If you are a specialist who takes pride in high workmanship standards and wants to put residents at the heart of property safety, we want you on board.
The Role
As the designated Duty Holder and Responsible Person for all Electrical and LOLER
Compliance across our council housing stock, you will be our technical subject matter expert. You will support the Asset and Compliance Manager by taking full operational ownership of electrical safety, passenger and household lift management, active fire protection, sprinkler systems, and door entry controls.
This is a proactive, monitoring and coordination role where you will:
Supervise and coordinate electric responsive, improvement, and planned maintenance works.
Monitor contractor and consultant performance on-site, auditing work in progress to guarantee high standards of safety, materials, and workmanship.
Ensure absolute regulatory compliance with current fire safety legislation, LOLER, Consumer Standards, and general Health & Safety.
Utilise data and tracking systems to maintain accurate compliance records and provide progress reports.
Actively track legislative changes to ensure our housing services always align with modern best practice.
About You
We need someone with sharp problem-solving skills, real technical authority, and the drive to help us successfully deliver our improvement plan. To excel in this role:
You must be electrically qualified to the 18th Edition and hold a membership with the NICEIC or equivalent. A related trades qualification or equivalent practical building services experience is essential.
Demonstrable experience acting as an Electric and/or Lift Duty Holder within occupied premises, ideally for a Social Housing Landlord or Local Authority. You should have specific experience managing lift servicing, maintenance programmes, and contractors.
A comprehensive understanding of health and safety legislation relating to housing (including CDM Regulations 2015, Fire Safety, and general asset compliance). Knowledge of mid-rise blocks (over 11m) is highly desirable.
The ability to convey clear technical messages to residents, contractors, and managers alike. You should be a collaborative team player who values kindness and compassion in the workplace.
A willingness and ability to travel within the Adur and Worthing Districts to conduct essential site inspections.
Why Join Us?
By joining Adur Homes now, you will play a crucial role in building a compliant, resilient housing service from the ground up. We offer a supportive environment through our Blended Working Policy, giving you the flexibility to manage your patch effectively while balancing your personal life.
If you bring the qualifications we need and the ambition to take ownership of our regulatory readiness, apply today to lead a competent workforce that puts our 2,500 residents first.
The successful candidate will be subject to a Basic DBS check clearance.
