We are a well-established care agency operating in Walsall seeking a motivated and compassionate Care Supervisor to oversee our Domiciliary Care service. Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to the care staff within Gracious Healthcare Services Ltd.
- Provide care in accordance with current best practices, according to policies and procedures, agreed quality standards, legislative requirements, and relevant regulations under the direction of the Manager.
- Supervise the care services within Gracious Healthcare Services Ltd in accordance with agreed standards.
- Maintain skills at a current level and undertake such training and development as may from time-to-time be required to maintain practices as up to date.
- The post holder is required to be motivated, compassionate, and committed to providing a caring, safe, effective, responsive and well-led environment for those in our care, ensuring that they are treated with respect and their individual needs are met.
- Be conversant with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and Domiciliary Care Regulations and work within the required minimum standards and regulations.
- Ensure Service Users are at the heart of the care delivery and their wishes and preferences are catered for thus enhancing their wellbeing.
- Ensure that all staff contribute to the efficient running of the service and supervise staff on their performance and capability.
- Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of those individuals they support.
- Be responsible for promoting the health and wellbeing of staff.
- Work with management to review service documentation and ensure that it meets legislative requirements and to develop person-centred care and support plans.
- Source packages of care as may be required to ensure work is fully available for staff and runs are complete.
- Carry out assessment of any new packages of care, write care plans and carry out care plan reviews.
- Undertake thematic reviews for key service areas e.g., comments, compliments or complaints.
- Communication with Service Users in this regard and visits to be structured, regular and to be recorded in relevant paperwork. Follow-up and close-out of any issues raised to be done.
- Maintain communication logs.
- Ensure that staff are supported to avoid any medication errors, unsafe techniques in moving and handling, poor recording, etc., and develop improvement plans to address common issues identified.
- Be competent in staff rota management and able to execute rota scheduling task in the absence of the Care Coordinator.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Be competent in and manage Infection Prevention and Control procedures to ensure safety of all.
- Lead the implementation of Quality Assurance Frameworks and robust quality assurance processes across Gracious Healthcare Services Ltd in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, policies and procedures, national and local standards.
- Support the manager in the development and implementation of quality assurance systems to ensure compliance with the Care Quality Commission.
- Take the lead in the implementation and management of quality assurance checks and audits.
This includes, but is not limited to the following:
o Out-of-hours Spot Checks
o Supervisions
o Disciplinary processes
o Carer and Service User file audits
o Log file audits
o Service User Surveys
o Staff Job Satisfaction Surveys
o Compliments and Complaints handling
o Service User courtesy calls
o Attending to the out-of-hours On-call phone on a rotational basis.
- Ensure that performance is appropriately measured against key performance indicators and that risks are identified.
- Carry out any other tasks as requested by the management.
- Knowledge and understanding of Care Standards Act 2008 and Domiciliary Care Regulations.
- Ability to comprehend and work within the CQC minimum Care standards and company Policies and Procedures.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Qualifications in Health and Social Care or a related field (NVQ Level 3 or higher).
- Previous experience in providing care and support to individuals with physical disabilities, mental health challenges, autism and learning disabilities.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- A strong commitment to upholding health and safety standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, service users, and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage and lead teams effectively.
- Driver’s licence and access to business-insured vehicle for work travel.
- Experience in a similar managerial or supervisory role in a care setting.
Desirable:
- Additional qualifications in Health and Social Care or Management.
