We are seeking an experienced and proactive Supervisor to lead the horticultural maintenance and development of the landscaped areas around the South West. This role requires strong technical horticultural knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage and motivate a small team to deliver work to the highest standard. The Supervisor will act as the main point of contact for the client on site, ensuring clear communication and a professional service at all times.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Oversee and plan all grounds and garden maintenance activities, including mowing, pruning, planting, weeding, and irrigation.
- Lead, supervise, and support the gardening team to ensure efficient and high-quality delivery of all tasks.
- Develop and implement seasonal work schedules and planting plans.
- Monitor plant health, soil conditions, and pest/disease control, taking appropriate action where needed.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure all areas are maintained to contract specifications and company standards.
- Liaise directly with the client and site management team to discuss ongoing works, upcoming projects, and any areas requiring attention.
- Source and order materials, plants, and equipment as required.
- Ensure all staff adhere to health and safety procedures and safe working practices.
- Maintain accurate records of works completed, materials used, and staff hours.
- Provide training and on-the-job guidance to junior gardeners.
What we're looking for:
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- PA1 and PA6 certification
- Good horticultural and grounds maintenance knowledge
- Proven experience in a similar supervisory role
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads effectively
- A keen eye for health and safety, with good understanding of compliance requirements
- Experience managing client relationships and site standards
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and use their own initiative
- Flexibility to travel across multiple sites
