Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Dog Kennel Assistant to join our team. This role involves caring for Greyhounds in a professional environment, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and be committed to providing excellent care. Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily care and supervision of greyhounds in the kennel, including feeding, cleaning, and providing companionship.
- Monitor the health and behaviour of animals, reporting any concerns to senior staff promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kennel areas, ensuring a hygienic environment for animals and staff.
- Assist with exercise routines, including walking dogs within designated areas.
- Support with administrative tasks such as recording animal details and updating client records.
- Assist with light grooming or basic veterinary-related tasks as required.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times to prevent injury or escape.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in veterinary settings or animal care is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
- Genuine passion for working with dogs and understanding of their needs.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, such as moving supplies or assisting with larger dogs.
- Good communication skills with a friendly, professional demeanour.
- Reliable, organised, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of animal behaviour and health is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends may be beneficial but not compulsory.
