Accounts Senior / Practice Accountant

We are working with a small, established accountancy practice looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Senior / Practice Accountant to join their team.
This is a hands-on, all-round practice role covering bookkeeping through to year-end accounts preparation, tax, VAT and client support. The firm is made up of one Director and a small team of four, offering a close-knit working environment with strong long-term prospects.
The role would suit someone with solid accountancy practice experience who enjoys working closely with clients and taking ownership of a varied workload. Qualifications are welcome, but practical experience is more important.
The Role
You will be working predominantly under the firm’s Manager and supporting a varied portfolio of clients with:
- Bookkeeping and VAT returns
- Year-end accounts preparation
- Corporation tax preparation
- Personal tax work
- Monthly and quarterly VAT returns
- Client software support and training
- General client queries and support
- Occasional payroll cover when required
- Supporting the wider team with day-to-day practice work
The firm uses a range of software including Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, FreeAgent, VT, AutoEntry, CCH and Cashflow. Experience with IRIS would also be useful, but is not essential.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
- Hands-on experience preparing accounts, VAT returns and tax work
- Good bookkeeping experience
- Confidence dealing with clients directly
- Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreeAgent
- A practical, reliable and organised approach
- Payroll experience would be beneficial but is not essential
- Qualifications such as AAT, ACCA or ACA are welcome but not essential
This role is best suited to someone who wants to be part of a small practice long term, with the opportunity to develop as the business continues to evolve.

Additional Information
This is a 100% office-based role. Client site visits are extremely rare, with the vast majority of work carried out from the office.
Pay: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
