Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality meals and exceptional service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, a keen eye for safety, and experience in a busy kitchen environment. The Kitchen Assistant will be responsible for assisting with meal preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Support chefs and kitchen staff in preparing ingredients and cooking basic dishes
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing utensils, equipment, and work surfaces
- Ensure food safety standards are adhered to at all times, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
- Serve food to customers or staff in a courteous and efficient manner
- Help with stock control by monitoring inventory levels and notifying supervisors of shortages or expiry dates
- Follow health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment
- Assist with catering events or special functions as required
Requirements
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Basic cooking skills and familiarity with food preparation techniques
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings or weekends if necessary
- A positive attitude, team player mentality, and willingness to learn new skills
