This is a Secondary Teaching Assistant position with excellent opportunities to progress into Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) and other senior roles within the SEND department.
About the Role
We are seeking proactive, high-energy Teaching Assistants to support students with SEND across London secondary schools. This role combines 1:1 support and academic intervention. We need self-starters who take initiative, build strong relationships with pupils, and drive progress from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Support: Deliver 1:1 and small-group support for students with various SEND needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SLCN) and execute EHCP Section F provisions.
- Behavior & Transitions: Use positive behavior strategies and de-escalation techniques; support pupils transitioning between key stages.
- Academic Intervention: Partner with teachers to modify lesson resources and lead small-group interventions in core subjects (English, Maths, Science).
- Tracking & Admin: Maintain accurate progress records and provide feedback to teachers and the SENCo.
- Care: Provide personal or intimate care when required, following school policy.
Person Specification
- Experience: Working with SEND youth in education (secondary experience is highly preferred).
- Skills: Ability to read/implement EHCPs, manage challenging behavior, and build strong professional boundaries.
- Academics: GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above). A degree or Level 2/3 TA qualification is a plus.
- Attributes: High energy, resilience, excellent communication, and a strong commitment to safeguarding.
