About the Role
We’re building a specialist engineering team to support a large-scale data centre migration programme, and we’re looking for an experienced Sun Solaris Engineer to join us.
This is a hands-on delivery role, not a BAU support position. You’ll be directly involved in system builds, migrations, and critical cutover activities across legacy and enterprise Solaris environments.
You’ll work alongside the client and other suppliers on a complex programme, helping ensure systems are migrated safely and efficiently with minimal disruption.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Administering Solaris environments (8, 9, 10, 11) including installation, patching, and upgrades
- Supporting Solaris clustering (Cluster 3/4) environments
- Working on data centre migration activities, including system preparation and transition
- Supporting build and cutover windows, including out-of-hours where required
- Troubleshooting issues in live, mission-critical environments
- Working closely with cross-functional teams and third-party suppliers
- Supporting documentation and contributing to technical solution delivery
What We’re Looking For
- Strong hands-on experience with Sun Solaris administration
- Experience with Solaris clustering technologies
- Comfortable working in complex enterprise environments
- Proven experience supporting infrastructure migrations or major system changes
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
Desirable (Nice to Have)
- Exposure to Oracle RAC environments
- Experience with automation or scripting
- Previous work in financial services, telecoms, or large enterprise environments
