We are seeking a compassionate and experienced dementia carer to support an elderly female client in the Three Rivers area of Hertfordshire. This is an initial visiting care role of 3 hours per day, with strong potential to increase in hours as needs develop over time.
About the Client The client is an elderly woman living in her own home who has been diagnosed with dementia. She also has epilepsy and diabetes, both of which will require the carer to be attentive, informed, and able to respond appropriately. The client's family are committed to ensuring she receives high-quality, consistent care in a familiar home environment.
Care Needs
- Dementia care, including cognitive support, emotional reassurance, and routine-based companionship
- Awareness and management of epilepsy — the carer must be confident in recognising seizure activity and following an agreed care plan
- Diabetes management support, including prompting or assisting with blood glucose monitoring, medication reminders, and dietary awareness
- Assistance with daily living tasks as required
- Engagement and meaningful activities to support mental wellbeing
Schedule & Hours
- Starting with 3 hours per day, likely increasing to more hours very soon
- This role is expected to grow over time, so candidates who are available for increased hours in the future are strongly encouraged to apply
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience in dementia care is essential
- Knowledge of epilepsy and diabetes management is highly desirable
- Patient, calm, and resilient — the client can present as strong-willed and may take time to build trust with a new carer; the ability to remain professional and warm in challenging moments is key
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent — routine and familiarity are particularly important for someone living with dementia
- Committed to continuity of care and open to evolving with the client's needs as they change
This is a rewarding role for a carer who is dedicated, experienced, and ready to build a genuine, trusting relationship with a client who will benefit greatly from skilled, compassionate support.
