Your role will involve:
- Providing a nurturing environment for our children / young people in which their physical and emotional needs are met by being a role model
- Assisting the manager to achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose
- Assisting in developing systems in which young people are consulted about the quality of care they receive
- Supporting and managing the staff to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people.
- Ensuring that each young person has an allocated key worker
- Ensuring that each member of staff is aware of each child’s placement plan and their responsibilities for its implementation
- Attending childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve best outcomes for young people
- Ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately and financial records are accurately maintained
- Working on a rota system, including weekends and sleep-ins as well as on-call duties, according to the needs of young people
- Carrying out all other reasonable tasks or as directed by the Registered Manager.
Deputising in the absence of the Registered Manager.
- Working as part of a multi-agency team to achieve optimum outcomes for young people.
- Being instrumental in devising and implementing change in the home.
- Continually improve services, systems and standards, in conjunction with the Registered Manager and the Senior Leadership team
Experience and Qualifications required:
- Diploma / NVQ 3 in Children and Young People Workforce (or equivalent)
- Working towards Level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management / Children, Young people and Families Manager
- Knowledge of the Children’s Act and other relevant legislation
- Supervision Skills
· Ability to manage teams effectively
· Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
· Understanding the needs of BESD children including managing challenging behaviour
Excellent organisational skills
· Ability to motivate staff
· At least 2 year’s relevant professional experience working with young people in a residential setting
· A full clean manual driving license held for at least 1 year
