Halifax BID is looking for an enthusiastic, practical and reliable Street Ranger to help keep Halifax town centre clean, welcoming and vibrant.
Working across the town centre, you'll play a key role in supporting local businesses, improving the environment and helping deliver projects that enhance the experience of everyone who lives, works and visits Halifax.
No two days are the same. From removing graffiti and maintaining public spaces to supporting community projects and checking our network of life-saving defibrillators, you'll be part of a small, friendly team committed to making Halifax the best it can be.
About Halifax BID
Halifax BID (Business Improvement District) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation funded by local businesses to improve and promote Halifax town centre.
Working closely with businesses, Calderdale Council, community organisations and other partners, we deliver projects that create a cleaner, safer and more welcoming town centre while supporting local businesses to thrive.
The Role
As Street Ranger, you'll spend most of your time out in the town centre, acting as a visible, approachable presence while delivering a range of environmental improvement projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out environmental improvement work across Halifax town centre.
- Removing graffiti, stickers, fly-posting and weeds from public areas.
- Supporting deep cleaning and chewing gum removal projects.
- Monitoring and reporting issues including litter, fly tipping, vandalism and damaged street furniture.
- Checking and helping maintain Halifax BID's public access defibrillators.
- Supporting community clean-up days and environmental initiatives.
- Working closely with businesses, volunteers, Calderdale Council and partner organisations.
- Reporting maintenance issues to the relevant organisations and following up where appropriate.
- Helping support Halifax BID events and promotional activities when required.
- Acting as a friendly and approachable ambassador for Halifax town centre.

- Has excellent attention to detail.
- Is friendly, approachable and confident speaking with members of the public and local businesses.
- Can work independently and manage their own workload.
- Uses initiative to identify and resolve problems.
- Is reliable, organised and trustworthy.
- Shares our passion for improving Halifax town centre.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience in grounds maintenance, environmental services, caretaking or a similar practical role.
- Knowledge of Halifax town centre.
- Basic DIY or maintenance skills.
