We are seeking an experienced Production Manager with a strong engineering background to take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy manufacturing shop floor. This role is critical to the performance of the business and requires someone who understands engineering, from both a management and practical perspective.
The successful candidate will manage people, processes, and performance across a diverse product range, ensuring work is planned realistically, executed efficiently, and continuously improved. This is a leadership role suited to an engineer who can confidently assess how jobs should be manufactured, how long they should take, and how processes can be improved.
The Role:
- Overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of production operations
- Leadership and management of a large, multi-skilled shop-floor workforce
- Planning and driving production to meet delivery and performance targets
- Monitoring and improving efficiency, productivity, and manufacturing processes
- Applying engineering knowledge to assess job methods, routings, and realistic timescales
- Managing and maintaining production documentation and control systems
- Ensuring safe, organised, and well-controlled shop-floor operations
- Supporting flexibility in working hours to align with production demands
- Lead, motivate, and manage production teams on a daily basis
The Person:
- Proven experience as a Production Manager or similar role within a manufacturing environment
- Engineering background essential (machining / fabrication / manufacturing)
- Strong understanding of production processes and workflows
- Confident managing people, performance, and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Able to identify inefficiencies and drive practical improvements
- Hands-on, organised, and comfortable making decisions on the shop floor
Hours
- Standard working hours are 7:30am – 4:00pm (with flexibility required)
- Salary £50,000
