Summary
The Hygiene Operative plays a key role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and GMP across the production environment. This role ensures that equipment, production areas, and facilities are cleaned to the required standards to support safe, efficient manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Carry out scheduled and deep‑cleaning tasks across production lines, equipment, and factory areas.
- Follow detailed cleaning instructions (CICs) and hygiene schedules.
- Use cleaning chemicals safely and correctly, following COSHH guidelines.
- Ensure all equipment is dismantled, cleaned, sanitised, and reassembled correctly.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Maintain strict hygiene standards to prevent contamination and ensure audit readiness.
- Complete hygiene records accurately, including pre‑start checks and cleaning verification.
- Report any hygiene issues, equipment defects, or pest concerns immediately.
- Support allergen control procedures and ensure correct segregation.
Health & Safety
- Follow safe working practices, including correct PPE use and chemical handling.
- Identify hazards and report them promptly.
- Ensure cleaning is carried out safely around machinery.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to coordinate cleaning activities.
- Communicate progress, issues, and delays to the Factory Manager.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Experience in a hygiene, cleaning, or food‑factory environment.
- Understanding of food safety, GMP, and basic chemical safety.
- Ability to follow procedures accurately and work to high standards.
- Good attention to detail and reliability.
Desirable
- Experience with industrial cleaning equipment (foaming systems, pressure washers, CIP).
- Knowledge of COSHH and allergen management.

Monday-Friday
8:30am-4:30pm
