Functional Assessor
Are you a Registered Nurse looking for a challenge? At Maximus, we’re expanding our clinical team and looking for compassionate, confident nurses to join us as Functional Assessors. This is a hybrid office-based role, allowing you to work both from home and on-site in one of our assessment centres.
You’ll conduct clinical assessments each day and produce evidence-based reports for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). It’s a meaningful role that focuses on understanding how health conditions impact people’s daily lives, rather than providing hands-on care. You’ll be supported by full training, clear guidance and a friendly, multi-disciplinary team.
What we offer:
We recognise that balance and development matter as much as your salary. It’s why we offer:
- Paid overtime
- No shifts, evenings or weekends
- Hybrid working (typically 2/3 days at home)
- 25 days’ annual leave, with the option to buy or sell 5 days
- Ongoing CPD and reimbursed revalidation fees
- Life insurance and Medicash Healthcare Cash Plan
- Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
What we are looking for:
You’ll need a valid NMC registration (RGN, NP, RNLD or RMN), at least 1 year of broad post-registration experience and the right to work in the UK. We cannot offer sponsorship.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Empathy, attention to detail and a genuine desire to help others make you a great fit, along with the confidence to work independently.
Managing a varied caseload, you should be able to perform well under pressure and use digital systems for reporting.
Inclusion and accessibility
Maximus is a Disability Confident employer. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences, including neurodiverse candidates. If you need any adjustments or alternative formats during the recruitment process, please let us know.
If you’ve recently applied for a Functional Assessor role, your application is still being reviewed, so there’s no need to apply again.
