HR Advisor - Automotive Repair Group
- Location: Witham, Essex (not hybrid or remote)
- Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 + bonus
- Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am-5:30pm

We are looking for an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to support our people agenda and help drive engagement, compliance, and operational excellence across our group of companies.
The Role
As our HR Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting managers and employees throughout the employee lifecycle, providing expert HR guidance, delivering people-focused initiatives, and ensuring the efficient administration of HR processes. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment and looking to stamp their mark within our business and industry.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Lifecycle Management
- Manage and coordinate all employee lifecycle processes, including recruitment support, onboarding, probation reviews, contract changes, promotions, transfers, and offboarding.
- Prepare and issue employment contracts, offer letters, and HR documentation.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies.
- Support managers with workforce planning and recruitment activities.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Support the development and delivery of employee engagement initiatives that enhance employee experience and retention.
- Coordinate employee surveys, feedback programmes, recognition schemes, and wellbeing initiatives.
- Partner with managers to identify opportunities to improve team engagement and workplace culture.
- Assist with internal communications and employee events.
Employment Relations Support
- Provide first-line advice and guidance to managers on employee relations matters, including absence management, disciplinary, grievance, performance, and capability issues.
- Support investigations, hearings, and meetings while ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Help mitigate employment risks by ensuring compliance with current employment legislation and best practice.
- Build strong relationships with managers and employees to promote positive employee relations.
People Data & Analytics
- Produce and analyse HR metrics and reports, including headcount, turnover, absence, engagement, recruitment, and retention data.
- Identify trends and provide insights to support business decision-making.
- Maintain HR systems and ensure the integrity and accuracy of people data.
- Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly HR reports for senior leadership.
Payroll Support
- Work closely with the payroll team to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Prepare and validate payroll-related information, including new starters, leavers, salary changes, bonuses, overtime, and absence data.
- Resolve payroll queries and support employees with payroll-related questions.
- Ensure payroll data is maintained accurately and submitted within agreed deadlines.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in an HR Advisor or equivalent HR generalist role, ideally with CIPD Level 5 qualification (or working towards).
- Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience supporting employee relations cases.
- Experience managing HR administration across the employee lifecycle.
- Strong analytical skills with experience producing and interpreting HR data.
- Experience supporting payroll processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and HR/Payroll systems.
