Finance & Bookkeeping Assistant - Part Time (25 Hours per Week)

Designer Rooms and Urban Kandi Ltd are established independent furniture retailers operating across seven retail stores together with a growing online business, all supported from our Head Office and central warehouse in Dundonald.
We are looking for an experienced Finance & Bookkeeping Assistant to join our finance team on a permanent part time basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy, fast paced environment, takes pride in producing accurate work and is confident using Xero on a daily basis.
You will work alongside our experienced finance team, supporting the day to day finance function and helping ensure our financial information remains accurate, organised and processed efficiently as the business continues to grow.
We're looking for someone who can quickly become part of the team, work independently when required, and take ownership of their workload from day one.
About the Role
Our finance team processes a high volume of transactions across seven retail stores together with our online business.
Efficient data processing is absolutely critical to the business. Whilst accuracy is essential, the ability to process large volumes of information efficiently and identify smarter ways of working is equally important.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a busy environment, prioritising workloads and ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- High volume processing of purchase invoices using Xero and Dext
- Managing accounts payable and account reconciliations
- Processing supplier payments
- Bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
- Maintaining accurate and up to date financial records
- Supporting the month end process
- Assisting with payroll processing using Xero Payroll, with the ability to independently run payroll for over 60 employees when required
- Assisting with general finance and administrative duties
- Continually looking for ways to improve systems and processes to increase efficiency
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous bookkeeping experience within a busy finance environment
- Proven experience using Xero in a previous finance role (essential)
- Experience using Dext or similar document management software
- Strong IT and systems skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to efficiently manage a high volume workload
- Comfortable working independently and using initiative
- Hardworking, reliable and organised
- Positive attitude with a willingness to support the wider team
- Excellent communication skills
Hours
This is a 25 hour per week position.
We recognise the importance of flexibility and are happy to discuss working patterns that suit both the successful candidate and the business.
Examples include:
- Monday to Friday, approximately 10.00 am to 3.00 pm

About You

You will be confident using Xero from day one, proactive in your approach and able to identify what needs to be done without requiring constant supervision. You will be happy to roll your sleeves up, support the wider team and take ownership of your work.
