Arborist
Location: DL1 4QB
Contract: Temporary – 1 Month+
Hours: 37 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday
Rate: £13.69 per hour
About the Role
We are recruiting for an Arborist to join a busy arboriculture team responsible for maintaining trees across parks, highways, open spaces and other public land.
This is a hands-on outdoor role where you'll carry out a range of arboricultural duties, helping to maintain the health, safety and appearance of trees while ensuring work is completed in accordance with industry standards and health and safety regulations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carry out tree pruning, felling, crown lifting, crown reduction and other arboricultural works
- Undertake tree inspections and identify defects or hazards
- Operate chainsaws, wood chippers and other arboricultural equipment safely
- Assist with emergency tree works following storms or incidents
- Remove branches, timber and green waste from work sites
- Work safely at height using appropriate climbing equipment or assist aerial operations from the ground
- Carry out routine maintenance of tools and equipment
- Complete work in accordance with industry standards and Health & Safety legislation
- Liaise professionally with colleagues and members of the public
- Ensure vehicles, equipment and work areas are kept clean and safe
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience working as an Arborist, Tree Surgeon or Arboricultural Operative
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience using chainsaws, wood chippers and arboricultural equipment
- Good knowledge of safe tree work practices
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual work
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
- NPTC/LANTRA Chainsaw qualifications (e.g. CS30/31 or equivalent)
- Aerial rescue and climbing qualifications
- Woodchipper and stump grinder certification
- Experience working within local authority or highways arboriculture
- First Aid at Work qualification
