About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Health Care Assistant to provide high-quality care and support to an elderly resident living with dementia. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting the resident's dignity, independence, comfort, and overall wellbeing within their own home.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.
- Assisting with mobility and transfers where required.
- Supporting with medication administration (if trained and authorised).
- Preparing light meals and encouraging adequate nutrition and hydration.
- Providing companionship and emotional support.
- Supporting daily routines and maintaining a safe environment.
- Monitoring and reporting any changes in health, behaviour, or wellbeing.
- Using dementia-friendly communication techniques and person-centred care approaches.
- Maintaining accurate care records and documentation.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working with elderly individuals, particularly those living with dementia.
- Understanding of dementia care and person-centred support.
- Compassionate, patient, and caring nature.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
- Moving and Handling training.
- Medication Administration training.
- Dementia Care training.
