Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Carer to join our team in providing exceptional care within a care home environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a compassionate approach to supporting our residents. This role involves supervising care staff, developing and implementing care plans, and ensuring the highest standards of personal and emotional support for residents. A valid driving licence is preferred to facilitate transportation needs. The Senior Carer will play a vital role in fostering a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for all residents.
Duties
- Oversee daily care operations within the care home, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and regulatory standards
- Supervise and support junior care staff, providing guidance and mentorship to promote professional development
- Develop, review, and update personalised care plans tailored to individual resident needs
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, mobility, and medication management
- Maintain clear communication with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and team members to coordinate effective care delivery
- Organise and participate in staff training sessions to ensure high standards of care are maintained
- Monitor the wellbeing of residents, recognising signs of health deterioration or emotional distress and acting accordingly
- Contribute to maintaining accurate documentation and records using IT systems for reporting purposes
- Support with driving duties as required for appointments or outings involving residents
Requirements
- Proven experience in senior care or supervisory roles within a care home setting
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a team effectively
- Excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with residents, families, and healthcare professionals
- Knowledge of care planning processes and ability to implement personalised support strategies
- Good IT literacy for record keeping and reporting purposes
- Valid driving licence preferred for transportation duties
- Ability to work flexibly within shift patterns that may include mornings, afternoons, or evenings as required
