Could You Change a Child's Life?
Fostering is one of the most rewarding things you can do. By opening your home to a child or young person, you can provide the safety, stability and encouragement they need to thrive.
At The Fostering Foundation, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued and supported. As a small, independent fostering agency, we pride ourselves on building strong relationships with our foster carers and providing personalised support every step of the way.
Could You Foster?
You may be able to become a foster carer if you:
- Are over 21 years of age.
- Have a spare bedroom.
- Have experience caring for children or young people, whether through parenting, family life, childcare or professional experience.
- Have any children living at home who are generally over the age of two years.
- Are a full-time UK resident or have Indefinite Leave to Remain.
Don't Rule Yourself Out
Many people assume they can't foster when, in fact, they can. You may still be eligible if you:
- Rent your home.
- Are single, married or in a same-sex relationship.
- Have children living at home.
- Receive benefits.
- Are retired.
- Have a disability.
- Have pets.
- Are currently unemployed.
If you're unsure whether fostering is right for you, we'd love to have an informal conversation.
What You'll Do
As a foster carer, you will:
- Provide a safe, loving and stable home where children can feel secure and reach their full potential.
- Support children with their education, health, emotional wellbeing and everyday development.
- Be a positive role model and advocate for the children in your care.
- Work in partnership with social workers, schools, health professionals and, where appropriate, children's families.
- Help children develop confidence, resilience and positive life experiences.
