Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Job Description
Zest Education is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join an inclusive and welcoming school in the Walsall area. This long‑term position beginning asap and offers flexibility for the right candidate. You will play a key role in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) through both small‑group and 1:1 support.
Key Responsibilities for a Learning Support Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with a variety of SEND needs.
- Work closely with the class teacher to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Adapt learning resources and classroom activities to meet individual needs.
- Build positive and supportive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Promote emotional well‑being, resilience, and independence.
- Support pupils in developing confidence, communication skills, social skills, and self‑regulation.
Requirements for a Learning Support Assistant:
- Previous experience supporting children or young adults with SEND.
- A patient, empathetic, and child‑centered approach.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to motivate, inspire, and engage a wide range of learners.
- Friendly, warm, and collaborative working style.

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
The role advertised is for temporary supply work.
