This role operates beyond first-line HR support. You will take ownership of complex people matters, coach leaders to build capability, and drive outcomes rather than escalate for resolution.
We're looking for a
People Partner to join our People Services team, providing a full generalist HR service to a designated business area. You'll work closely with managers and leaders to deliver people initiatives, support organisational change, improve performance, and create a positive colleague experience across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide an autonomous, full generalist people partnering service, coaching and challenging managers on a wide range of people matters
- Build strong relationships with leaders and managers, influencing and challenging where appropriate to deliver positive business outcomes
- Support the delivery of people plans, organisational initiatives, and cyclical activities including engagement surveys and pay reviews
- Partner with leaders on workforce planning, talent management, succession planning, and resourcing activities
- Coach and challenge managers to take ownership of people decisions, build capability in performance management, employee relations, and people leadership
- Support leaders throughout the performance management cycle, helping to drive a high-performance culture
- Lead and advise on complex employee relations cases including absence management, disciplinary, grievance, capability, appeal and flexible working cases; while coaching managers to reduce cases
- Lead and support organisational change initiatives including restructures, reorganisations, TUPE transfers, job evaluation and salary benchmarking
- Analyse people data and management information to diagnose, and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Contribute to policy development, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives across People Services
- Champion organisational values, culture, and colleague engagement across the business
- Support People Services projects and wider strategic initiatives as required
More about you:
- CIPD Level 5 (or working towards)
- Employment law qualification (desirable)
- Solid generalist HR experience, with demonstrable ownership and resolution of complex ER casework and organisational change activity, in a complex organisation
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and its practical application within a business environment
- Experience advising managers on employee relations matters including performance management, disciplinaries, grievances, absence management and appeals
- Experience supporting organisational change activities including restructures, job evaluation, consultations and TUPE processes
- Strong coaching, influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Experience using people data and management information to identify trends and inform decision-making
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and problem-solving skills
- Commercially aware with the ability to balance people outcomes and business objectives
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR systems
