Full-time Night Care Assistant — 36 hours per week / 3 nights
We are looking for a compassionate, reliable Night Care Assistant to join our friendly team at Summerlands Care Home.
Working three night shifts each week, you will play an important role in helping our residents feel safe, comfortable and well cared for throughout the night. You will deliver high-quality, person-centred care while promoting each resident’s dignity, independence and individual choices.

Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience working within a care or residential setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of caring for people living with dementia.
- Good communication skills, including spoken and written English.
- A compassionate, respectful and person-centred approach to care.
· Ability to work effectively as part of a night team while following care plans, policies and procedures.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards a recognised qualification.
- Previous experience supporting older people within a residential or dementia care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, person-centred care that respects each resident's dignity, preferences and individual routines.
- Support residents with personal care, mobility, continence care, repositioning, hydration and comfort during the night.
- Carry out regular wellbeing and safety checks in accordance with individual care plans.
- Observe residents closely and promptly report any changes in health, behaviour or wellbeing to the Senior Care Assistant or Nurse in Charge.
- Maintain accurate records and complete documentation to a high standard.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the smooth running of the home during night shifts.
- Promote independence wherever possible while providing reassurance and emotional support.
- Maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for residents.
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote the welfare, privacy and rights of every resident at all times.
- Follow all company policies, infection prevention procedures and health and safety requirements.
