About the role
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Box Office Assistant.
Pontardawe Arts Centre is a vibrant and dynamic hub for arts and culture, delivering a diverse programme of live performances, cinema screenings, and community events. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive Box Office and Café Bar service, ensuring an efficient, professional, and welcoming experience for all customers.
As a Box Office Assistant, you will play an integral role in the day-to-day operation of the venue, acting as the first point of contact for customers and supporting both front-of-house and café bar functions.
Your daily duties will include:
- Preparing the Box Office and café bar areas for public service
- Providing a high standard of customer service in person, via telephone, and by email
- Delivering café bar service alongside Box Office responsibilities, including operating both the ticketing system and café/bar till
- Supporting administrative and clerical processes
- Undertaking routine cleaning duties as required
- Accurately inputting and maintaining data on Arts Centre systems, ensuring compliance with GDPR regulations
About you
Do you have:
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team, whilst also demonstrating initiative and the capacity to work independently
- A positive, proactive approach with a strong commitment to customer care and community engagement
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic IT skills, with confidence in using digital systems
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience of handling cash and card payments within a customer-facing environment
- An understanding of HACCP and COSHH procedures
- A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
There are no formal qualifications required for this role, as full training will be provided.
We would welcome applicants with experience in:
- Box Office operations within a theatre, leisure, cinema or arts environment, including the use of computerised ticketing and till systems
- Hospitality and customer service roles, such as cafés, bars, or restaurants
