We’re looking for fabulous new team members to join our Nursery in Newent. We currently have two part-time, year-round positions available: a Cook/Housekeeper (10am–2pm) and a Housekeeper (4pm–6pm). These roles can be applied for individually or combined to create a full working day for the right candidate. Cook/Housekeeper Job Description
Food is an absolute passion for us, and we want someone who shares our vision in providing the best meals and snacks for the children, each and every day, with no added salt or sugar used.
The role will include (but is not limited to):
- Prepping snacks and meals on a daily basis
- Preparing hydration stations for our team and children
- Consumables ordering and liaising with our Head Cook at our nursery in Hereford
- Liaising with Gloucestershire Environmental Health services
- Support during special family events
- Weekly hot lunch creation for our amazing team
- Housekeeping duties (cleaning up after meals and snacks, popping on laundry items to wash and dry)
Qualification requirements:
- Confident home cooks are welcome to apply
- Ideally, applicants would hold a cooking qualification and have a sound knowledge of Safer Food hygiene practices, although training can be given
- A driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous, so that you can spend time with our Head Cook in Hereford at regular intervals
This position is year-round, working Monday to Friday, 10am–2pm. We will provide additional CPD.
Housekeeper Job Description
We would love someone who has an eye for detail, to keep our Nursery clean, tidy and organised, to join us five afternoons a week.
The role will include (but is not limited to):
- Serving tea (prepared by the Cook) to the children in Nursery
- Support during special family events
- Housekeeping duties (laundry washing and drying, deep cleaning rooms and resources on a rotational basis)
This position is year-round, working Monday to Friday, 4pm–6pm.
This role will require the successful candidate to lock up the Nursery each evening following the cleaning at 6pm.

Pay: £12.80-£13.50 per hour
