Casper Stores is a specialist Polish meat processing and retail operation based in Wolverhampton. We supply high-quality fresh meat, cured meats and specialty products to our loyal customer base. With a strong reputation for authentic products and traditional butchery standards, we are growing and looking to add a skilled Butcher to our team.
What You'll Be Doing
- Breaking down primal cuts into retail-ready portions including steaks, joints, chops and mince
- Preparing, trimming and presenting fresh meat and poultry to a high standard
- Operating butchery equipment including bandsaws, mincers, slicers and vacuum packers
- Maintaining full traceability records for all meat products handled
- Ensuring all work complies with food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards
- Monitoring stock levels, rotating products and minimising waste
- Keeping the cutting room, equipment and display areas clean and sanitised at all times
- Serving and advising customers on cuts, preparation and cooking where required
What We're Looking For
Must-haves:
- Previous experience working as a butcher (retail, wholesale or processing environment)
- Confident breaking down carcasses and preparing a full range of cuts
- Good knife skills and understanding of meat handling best practices
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Reliable, punctual and able to work to a consistent standard under pressure
- Able to work well as part of a team
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with Polish or Eastern European meat products and cuts
- Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate (training can be provided)
- Experience with curing, smoking or sausage-making
- Familiarity with beef traceability and HACCP documentation
